The Best Camp Tables For Luxury Camp Meals in 2024

Best camp tables

The tent and stove may come first on your camping checklist but bringing a table will certainly add a new angle to your camp kitchen. You can forget about squatting over a precariously balanced camping stove, and the backache that comes with it. Pick the right camp table and you will never have to eat on the damp ground again!

There’s more to choosing a camping table than you might expect, though. You want to pick one that’s strong and stable but doesn’t weigh a ton. One that’s the right height for your chairs, and one that sets up and collapses in an instant.

Luckily for you, your friends here at Cool of the Wild have made the selection simple. We’ve checked out many types of outdoor tables and narrowed it down to what we think are the ten best camp tables in 2024.

11 of the best camp tables in 2024

KingCamp-Bamboo-Folding-Table

KingCamp Bamboo Folding Table

Eco-conscious: Made from bamboo

Best for: Picnics and uneven ground

The Bamboo Folding Table from KingCamp has something that most camp tables lack: Adjustable legs. These can adjust from a height of 17” to 25.6” making it suitable for picnics on the ground or dining with chairs. There are no cross supports either, so you get plenty of legroom for two adults.

It may take a bit of practice to get the legs at the right length but the ability to adjust them individually will make the table more secure on uneven ground. We also like that the surface and legs fold together and fit into one carry case to minimise the possibility of losing parts.

The KingCamp Bamboo Folding Table is available in two sizes, the size and weight specifications above are for the smaller sized table. Both sizes are light and compact enough to be carried on a short walk.

Pros

  • Adjustable height
  • All-in-one design
  • Attractive bamboo surface
  • Small or large sizes available

Cons

  • Not the sturdiest frame
  • May not withstand wet weather

Nemo Moonlander Dual-Height Table
Nemo Moonlander Dual-Height Table

Nemo Moonlander Dual-Height Table

The Nemo Moonlander is one sweet and innovative little table that is also rather versatile. Fold out the small legs and the table compares to the GSI Micro in terms of height but offering more table space. In this low mode, the table is ideal for blanket picnicers to serve up their feast from when the ground is a little uneven. But attach the super sturdy aluminum legs (that are cleverly stowed underneath the table) and the 16 inch high table is better suited to camp chair diners and snackers for use at camp or on the beach.

Though it’s not the most lightweight table on our list for its size, it sure is convenient to carry. The compact carry case is the size of a large laptop so fits inside most backpacks. And the carry strap makes it easy to sling over your shoulder if you just want to grab it and go. So far, it’s turning lots of heads each time we use it!

Pros

  • Compact and easy to carry
  • Comes with carry case
  • Dual-height
  • Good surface area for its overall size
  • Very stable at both heights

Cons

  • Pricey
  • A little on the heavy side for its size

ALPS Mountaineering Dining Table

ALPS Mountaineering Dining Table

Best for: Dining

The ALPS Mountaineering Dining Table is designed for group campers who want to take their dining room to the outdoors. The table comes in a selection of sizes and the extra-large version can seat up to eight adults. As there’s no cross supports you’ll be able to get your chair underneath, too.

Although the ALPS Mountaineering Dining Table has a higher than average price tag, does to tick a lot of boxes. Its aluminium x-frame is sturdy, it wipes clean, and it collapses quickly. It’s also a reasonable weight for a table of this size, and comes with a carry bag.

Pros

  • Easy setup
  • Smooth table top
  • Sturdy frame

Cons

  • Weight limit may be less then a solid table top
  • Higher price tag

REI Co-op Camp Roll Table

REI Co-op Camp Roll Table

Best for: Cooking and portability

The Co-op Camp Roll Table is the best roll up camping table on the market when it comes to value for money. Its sturdy aluminium frame and heat-resistant aluminium slat-top, along with its 100 lbs weight capacity, challenges its high-priced competitors. What’s more, this lightweight aluminium folding table weighs just under 9 lbs and packs into a compact stuff sack.

This REI camp table can seat two to four adults, however, the cross supports do take up leg room. We, therefore, think that this model is better suited to food preparation; its surface provides ample space for a two-hob gas stove and cooking utensils. It’s also tall enough to cook and prepare food from.

Pros

  • Very sturdy frame
  • Quality materials
  • Carry bag included
  • Reasonably priced

Cons

  • Limited leg space

Helinox Table One Camping Table

Helinox Table One Camping Table

Best for: Backpacking and adventures

Table One from Helinox is the most expensive item on our list but it’s also one of the lightest and most compact. At only 2 lbs and sporting a tiny pack size, it’s specifically designed with backpackers and recreational kayakers in mind.

The sturdy cross frame is low to the ground and made from durable aluminium tent poles. Meanwhile, the folding hard-top is made from polyester. The fabric top is tough enough for cutting veggies and holding equipment or drinks, but the fabric is not heat resistant, nor will it hold heavy loads.

Pros

  • Simple to setup
  • Very sturdy
  • Excellent for backpacking

Cons

  • Not the most versatile camp table
  • High price tag
  • Not designed for cooking

The table is one of the toughest on this list; it’s made from a heat and flame-resistant aluminium which can hold a weight of up to 20 lbs. The table features four adjustable legs.

Due to its compact size, low height and small surface area, we recommend the GSI Outdoors Micro Table for backpacking and solo camping trips.

Pros

  • Dual-height legs
  • Quality material
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Nylon carry bag included
  • Affordable price

Cons

  • Very small

Coleman Pack-Away best Camp Table

Coleman Folding Camping Table

Best for: Family camping and garden picnics

The Coleman Folding Camping Table is actually two tables in one. The two surfaces fold together like a suitcase with the legs stored inside and a carry handle on top. It is one of the simplest camp tables to pack and carry. Once open the two MDF table tops can be used individually or joined lengthways or widthways using plastic clips.

The Coleman Camp Table has a polished aluminium frame which can hold up to 300lbs. Its adjustable legs can adjust to three heights, ideal for dining with kids or setting up a BBQ buffet. The main drawback of this product is that the table surface is not heat resistant. However, it is a versatile camp table for family camping trips and backyard dining.

Pros

  • Very versatile
  • Simple to assemble
  • 1-year limited warranty

Cons

  • Not suitable for cooking or placing hot items

Camp Chef Sherpa Table

Best for: Cooking and storage

The Sherpa Table from Camp Chef is a camp kitchen table which lets you bring all your pots and pans, plus the kitchen sink! It’s not designed for eating your dinner on but the detachable aluminium table top is large enough for a camping stove, and underneath there is plenty of storage space.

The main section is made from durable 600 denier fabric. It has a zippered front panel giving you access to the four removable storage bags inside. One of these doubles as a portable wash basin. The table is fitted with telescopic legs to keep it off the ground. When you’re ready to strike camp, just roll up the top, close the legs, and zip the front panel.

Pros

  • Quick set up
  • Functional storage space
  • Easy to organise

Cons

  • Large pack size

Mountain Summit Gear Roll Top Kitchen

Mountain Summit Gear Roll Top Kitchen

Best for: Cooking and dining

The price is a little above mid-range, however, this product does give you a very sturdy aluminium cross frame and multiple surfaces. It provides enough space for a two-hob burner, food or utensil storage, and two adults to eat.

This is one of the easiest camp tables to pack, too. The two table slat-tops simply roll away while the solid counter folds into a collapsible frame. You’ll have this set up within minutes. Despite this, its pack size is not particularly compact nor is it light enough for carrying very far. For car campers and caravanners, however, the Mountain Summit Gear Roll Top Kitchen is an ideal cooking and dining solution.

Pros

  • Easy setup
  • Multiple levels
  • Versatile usage
  • Sturdy and weather-resistant frame

Cons

  • Not the most compact
  • Slightly pricey for what it is

The rugged fabric is designed to provide a flat and ridged surface which supports up to 50 lbs. It also comes with two handy built-in cup holders and a very affordable price tag.

ALPS Mountaineering Eclipse Table

Best for: Playing games and recreational walking

If you need a compact camp table but don’t want to compromise on size then the ALPS Mountaineering Eclipse Table is a practical choice. It’s constructed with multiple table layers which increase stability but also helps to keep the top clutter-free. The lower level features four built-in cup holders and there is a side pocket for storing small items.

The Eclipse table is available in two versions. You can choose from a plain khaki colour or khaki with a built-in checkerboard! Both are made from durable 600D polyester which can be adjusted at the corners to provide a more rigid surface.

This compact camp table is lightweight and folds up in under a minute. It’s not the best for dining or cooking due to its low design and soft fabric top, however, it’s one of the most multifunctional camp tables on the market, and ideal for serious camping gamers!

Pros

  • Good stability
  • Easy setup
  • Tough and adjustable fabric
  • Two versions available

Cons

  • Will not hold heavy items or hot pans
  • Too low to fit a chair underneath

Things to consider when choosing a camp table

Portability

The ability to move a camping table from A to B without too much hassle is essential. Most camp tables will fold to a size which fits comfortably inside the boot/trunk of a car, or, to a size which is reasonable to hike with. Most will come with a protective travel bag or a built-in carry handle. Likewise, the camp table you would take out adventuring should weigh as little as possible; below 2 lbs is ideal. Car campers, however, may trade a featherweight table for a larger and sturdier surface.

Set up

It’s also worth considering how quick your camping table is to set up. If you’re staying for a week in one campsite then half an hour to construct a table doesn’t seem like much. But if you’re moving camp every few days that’s going to bite into your playtime. The most portable camp tables take less than 5 minutes to set up. You shouldn’t need to be a rocket scientist or an Ikea salesman to work out how to put it together either!

Height

Think about what you’ll be using your table for. The best camp tables for cooking and food preparation should be tall enough to use while standing; the best for dining should leave enough room for your legs to fit underneath. If you camp with kids then a shorter frame might be preferable. The most versatile camp tables will come with an adjustable frame which allows you to alter the height.

Frame design

Camping tables with cross supports provide a stronger base and can often hold more weight. The counter side is that these supports take up leg room. If your main use is dining or playing cards, rather than cooking or holding luggage, then you might prefer a table without cross supports.

Some frames also have legs which adjust individually. This is a useful feature to have, unless your camping area comes with completely level ground.

Durability and materials

Are you just planning to put your coffee on the table and play cards or does your table need to support the weight of a family sized camping stove? If it’s the latter option then you’ll need one made from something stronger than plastic. Wood is much heavier but also more durable and more resistant to heat and scratches. In most cases, aluminium is the best material for a camp table. It’s lighter than wood, tougher than plastic, and resistant to weather, heat, and rust.

You’ll also need to decide between a hard-top and a soft-top table. As hard-tops are generally tougher and more stable, they’re usually preferable for cooking and dining. On the other hand, soft-tops tend to be compact and lightweight.
